Börger Rotary Lobe Pumps are self-priming, valveless, positive displacement pumps. Two synchronized rotors rotating against each other build chambers towards the pump casing. At the suction side the open chambers fill with the conveyed product. The product is displaced in the direction of the volume flow into the discharge side. The capacity is speed related and the flow is reversible. At standstill the pump rotors the seal nearly perfectly.
  • Pumping capacity up to 1.200 m3/h (5.300 usgpm).
  • Discharge head up to 120 m.

The unique MIP (Maintenance-in-place) property of our pumps makes this possible. MIP means that all replaceable parts can be easily installed and removed by maintenance personnel, in-situ, without having to remove any pipe or drive systems.

The Multicrusher is an effective, widely applicable macerating unit. The independently operating Twin Shaft Grinder is based on the proven design of the Börger Rotary Lobe Pump.

Instead of rotating lobes there are blade and cutter configuartions installed in the Multicrusher.

The relative rotation speed of the two shafts ensures an optimalized macerating effect and prevents stringy material from wrapping around the blades and cutters.

The Quick Release Cover allows easy and direct access to all fluid wetted parts.

The Multichopper is a macerator with central cutterblade and opposing rotating kifeheads for reducing solids in liquids. It chops down cutable solids.

How it Works:

The product, consisting of fluid - usually water - with large solids, is conveyed through the openings of the cutterplate with the use of a pump. The rotating knifehead on the cutterplate create three cuts per each revolution ensuring a reliable, trouble-free chopping and reducing of the solids. The rotating knifehead with triple replaceable knife is fitted against the cutter plate.

The central adjusting unit with an external clamp construction keeps the assembly axially aligned and allows easy readjusting. The chopping result is mainly influenced by the design of the cutterplate, the throughput volume and the rotation speed. Non cutable solids - such as stones or hard metal particles - are separated prior to the entry into the cutterplate and collected in the large debris collection area below, from which they can be easily removed on a frequent basis.

The Vaughan Chopper Pump

The Vaughan Chopper Pump is a centrifugal pump with the unique ability of chopping all incoming solids prior to pumping. This not only protects the pump from clogging, but also provides added benefit to downstream components, processes, and the environment.
All wear components are cast steel and heat treated for maximum impact and wear resistance. Combined together, these heavy duty patented components create the ultimate pump for handling severe solids.
This same basic concept has been used in Vaughan's vertical wet well design for almost a half-century.
Chopping is accomplished by the scissor action of the leading edges of the impeller vanes cutting against the opposing edges of the cutter bar.
All solids are chopped as they enter between the cutter bar and the impeller vanes. The smaller solids are easily pumped by the centrifugal action of the impeller.

The Concept

Vaughan Chopper Pumps incorporate increases in efficiency, with improved reliability handling tough stringy solids. Some models also include a new backpullout casing design, allowing external adjustment of clearances and ease of maintenance.
Vaughan Chopper Pumps are not to be confused with other types or brands of chopper pumps, cutter pumps, grinder pumps or comminutors. Some of the unique patented features specific to Vaughan Chopper Pumps which make the product so dependable are:

Vaughan’s unique cartridge style mechanical seal handles the toughest slurries, outperforming standard single-spring seals by reducing problems associated with wrapping or abrasion.
Stray solids trapped in the mechanical seal area are shredded and removed by the impeller vanes turning against the upper cutter.
Solids are chopped by the cupped and sharpened impeller blades turning across the cutter bar, creating a smooth “slicing” effect. The conditioned slurry is easily pumped through the pump and piping system without plugging.
The cutter nut cuts stringy materials that can tend to wrap at the pump inlet.
An optional disintegrator tool agitates and breaks up large solids to prevent suction blockage. The tool is removable for stringy solids.
